US plant-based protein brand Loma Linda has claimed to have launched a “first of its kind” tuna meat alternative range, TUNO, to the UK market.

Available across UK shelves and online retailers from spring 2019, the five-strong TUNO line-up comprises Spring Water, Lemon Pepper, Sweet Chilli, TUNO Mayo (with vegan mayonnaise) and Sesame Ginger.

The products, which will be available in cans and on-the-go pouches, are made using plant-based and gluten-free ingredients, which offer a light textured product that is completely fish-free, according to the brand.

The launch is set to be showcased by Loma Linda’s manufacturer Atlantic Natural Foods, as well as European distributor Worldwide Food Associates at the Natural and Organic Products Europe (NOPE) trade show in London from 7-8 April 2019.

As well as the TUNO brand, Loma Linda will also be showcasing a range of new plant-based ready meals at the show.

We are committed to delivering health and sustainable foods to future generations and the launch of TUNO and the range of Loma Linda ready meals will transform the plant-based food category currently available to consumers,” said Worldwide Food Associate’s managing director Eric Woods.

We can’t wait to see what the reaction will be to the launch of these new products in April.”

In June, GlobalMeatNews will be running a full-day conference on the plant-based protein sector in Amsterdam, Holland, featuring some of the biggest names in the industry. It’s an event not to be missed, and you can book your place here.
