Hybu Cig Cymru – Meat Promotion Wales (HCC) has launched a new corporate website designed as a one-stop shop for information on the Welsh red meat industry.

The organisation said that, in a period of Brexit uncertainty, it was more important than ever that farmers and processors have easy access to latest prices, trends and analysis.

HCC’s new website has been given a distinctive Welsh stamp, and is now accessible through new domain names, and

It has a new ‘Policies and Analysis’ section, featuring HCC’s newly-published compendium of key statistics for the Welsh lamb, beef and pork sectors, the 2018 Little Book of Meat Facts.

Other important publications to help farm businesses plan for the future, such as the HCC Board’s ‘Vision 2025’ blueprint and the ‘Horizon’ analysis of post-Brexit scenarios for agriculture, are also featured on the site.

It said the market prices section had been redesigned to be easy to use on both mobile and desktop devices. It will still give daily updates on prices of cattle, sheep and pigs at individual livestock markets in Wales, as well as averages and longer-term trends.

HCC communications manager Owen Roberts said: “The Welsh red meat industry is looking to a changing future, so we need a modern, functional web presence to ensure our stakeholders have access to the latest information.”

Neil Williams, from the digital agency User Fusion, said: “The main focus of the project was to reorganise a large body of content and optimise the viewing experience on mobile. This was vital for farmers and the rest of the red meat industry as they are the backbone of the rural economy in Wales.”

The new front page of the website contains prominent links to other sites that HCC manages: PGI Welsh Lamb, PGI Welsh Beef and Porc.Wales, with their wealth of recipes and consumer competitions; and, the resource for industry professionals.
