The Dubai Municipality has opened veterinary laboratories to inspect fodder samples and animal food shipments in the Jebel Ali Port region.

The move was pioneered by Dubai’s Municipality for Environment and Public Health Services sector as part of its strategy to contribute to the sustainability of fodder safety and improving animal production.

The cattle feed laboratories will also help with the Municipality to keep up with the scientific developments and modern techniques used in fodder examinations.

The laboratories were equipped with the latest equipment and tools for testing fodder samples and animal food. Rapid inspection techniques were introduced to save time and effort of the public,” said Dubai’s Municipality’s head of veterinary services Hashim Al Awadhi.

There has been a 14% increase in the quantity of shipments of fodder and animal foods year-on-year, added Al Awadhi, who revealed that 400,087 tonnes were distributed during 2017 in comparison to 349,436 tonnes in 2016.

Dubai’s Municipality has recently finished work at its Lisaili abattoir consisting a slaughter hall and barns to keep livestock. The facility was later used to trial an Al Mawashi smart application for meat to be delivered to customers during Ramadan.
