Well, the year is drawing to a close – anyone else think it has gone really quick? – and this news in brief is part of our final newsletter this year.

We will have a Most Popular News of 2017 newsletter sent out soon so stay tuned for that if you are missing your daily dose of food safety and quality control news.

This year we published a number of special edition newsletters alongside our daily news coverage to dive deeper into certain topics such as product inspection, food fraud and lab technology.

The recall round-up gallery is still going strong and the monthly ‘Research Round-up’ feature also is here to stay.

Industry events included Pittcon, the GFSI conference, Food Integrity and RAFA where we met some of you and brought those who could not attend highlights from these conferences and trade shows.

We also ran our second state of the industry survey with more than 900 of you taking time out to answer our questions and give your thoughts on the industry and our coverage.

I would like to extend a special thanks to those who have advertised with us this year: Mettler Toledo, Merck, Tomra, Shimadzu, Thermo Fisher, Dohler, SGS, Fera, Prudential Overall Supply and others as without their support our coverage would not be possible.

Our social media accounts continue to grow (12.8k followers on Twitter; 1,455 likes on Facebook and 946 members of our LinkedIn group). I look forward to continuing conversations with you on these platforms in the future.

That is all for now. The next edition of FoodQualityNews will be published on 2 January 2018. Merry Christmas and Happy New year from all of us here.
