GNT opens €3m research lab to double product development

Colouring foods manufacturer GNT has opened a new research and development laboratory in the Netherlands which will double its capacity for product development.

Head of Marketing Guido de Jager said the company planned to take on more staff as it increased its technical resources but had no fixed number.

There are a number of areas GNT’s product developers at the new site in Mierlo, The Netherlands, will be focussing on for future innovation. “Future developments will provide even higher performance – not only in the final food and beverage products but over the whole product life cycle," said de Jager. "This also includes improved functionality during storage/transportation, handling in the production and of course we constantly work on reducing cost in use.”

Hendrik Hoeck, managing director at GNT said: “Our new facilities highly contribute to this goal and enable us to enhance our support to manufacturers at all stages of product development. This will further drive the concept of ‘colouring food with food’ to become the industry standard to satisfy consumers growing demand for real natural colour.”

GNT is preparing to launch a range of colouring foods specifically for savoury food applications, details of which are to be announced over the coming weeks.
