Mobile waste disposal truck wins big poultry contract

The world’s first mobile carcase waste solution designed to help producers safely dispose of poultry affected by diseases on-farm has won a $2.5m contract.

Israel-based BATM Advanced Communication’s innovative agri-waste mobile unit is designed to go to farms affected by disease and dispose of livestock on-site.

When a farm is hit by a disease, the livestock cannot be transported from their location for fear of the disease spreading, so are culled on-site.

Developed by BATM’s Pathogenic Waste Treatment and Sterilisation unit, the business claims to have launched the world’s first mobile agri-waste solution. The company has received an advance $1m payment for delivery of it. Construction is expected to start in the summer and will be completed in the first half of 2018.

‘Major’ order

BATM said the treatment process is eco-friendly, and no hazardous materials or chemicals are used, so no odour is created when disposing of disease-hit poultry.

‘Leading’ pathogenic waste solution

BATM is principally involved in telecommunications, but dabbles in the medical sector.

The business uses a medical sterilisation solution in the rendering process to safely treat animal remains, enabling firms to generate a profit by using the leftover fat and protein for animal or fish feed.

As demonstrated by our agri-waste solutions, we are finding new applications for this technology on a much larger scale in both the biopharma and agricultural fields. Our ISS solution recently received a patent in the US and we expect our agri-waste solution to do the same in due course.
