More than 1,400 international food and drink exhibitors descended on Paris for the Food Ingredients Europe (FiE) show this week, with many tweeting the latest trends and innovations.

Mintel and Euromonitor both tweeted about key trends that would shape the ingredients market in 2016.

Cake and protein growth

Mintel revealed that 25% of UK cake consumers were interested in innovations and that 30% of Americans were eating more non-animal sources of protein.

Euromonitor predicted a rise in yogurt sales over the next five years.

FoodManufacture.co.uk’s senior reporter on the ground also tweeted a number of key quotes on the social media site.

These included the latest in the sugar debate and advice on how to get a food and drink brand off the ground.
