Dicentra has become licenced under SQFI to perform certification audits for food manufacturing facilities.

The food safety and regulatory consultancy firm received the Safe Food Quality Institute (SQFI) license as a certification body.

Food safety plans that meet SQF standards and pass certification audits signify their operation is eliminating potential risks to validate to customers their safety plans meet clients’ requirements.

Food recalls have a significant impact on all business related to food manufacturing, importing and distributing, said SQF.

The firm said it has been shown that internal and external failure costs outweigh the prevention and appraisal costs of having a SQF Certification Program

Dicentra’s expertise includes HACCP/Preventative Control Plans for facilities processing foods, preparing for GFSI certifications, and reviewing labels for retailers and brands for food products.

There are over four million foodborne illnesses in Canada each year with the second largest area of recalls in the past year due to undeclared allergens (40%), said dicentra.
