Colours company DD Williamson (DDW) has announced expansion plans with the opening of a new production site in Cork, Ireland.

The site is due to open in April.

The company said that the production site would focus on the manufacturing of water and oil soluble natural colours.

Senior vice president of sales and marketing Graham Merryweather said: “In order to continue our expansion into natural colours it is vital to have a production site in Europe. We are delighted that our new operation will be close to our caramel plant that has been selling caramel colour throughout Europe for almost 40 years.

“We will utilise an experienced technical and commercial team to support our customers’ new initiatives with a focus on minimally processed natural colours.”

The production site in Cork will go through a BRC audit, along with being Kosher and Halal certified, it said.
