British Meat protein manufacturer BHJ Ingredients has merged with US companies Proliant Meat Ingredients and Proliant Health to form a new protein brand company, Essentia Protein Solutions.

The three companies are owned by Lauridsen Group Incorporated (LGI), and provide protein ingredient solutions for the meat industry.

The deal between the West Midlands-based company and the US firms will allow BHJ access to facilities across the EU and the US.

Chris Snyder, president and CEO of Essentia, said: "Our mission is to create and deliver value to customers and all stakeholders through novel protein solutions.

"Our strategy is to leverage Essentia’s combined expertise and innovation, and be present in every aisle of grocery, health, and nutrition stores."

Tom Cooke, Essentia’s regional director north and western Europe, added: "This is an exciting time for us to merge under one brand, and enables us to consolidate our market position in the UK as brand leader for functional protein ingredients.

"Our new corporate name is a reflection of our commitment to always deliver best value to our customers, and it opens doors to new opportunities for all."
