Animal production trade fair EuroTier 2014 is now under way, welcoming 2,360 exhibitors from 49 countries to the Hanover Fairgrounds in Germany.

The show, calling itself "the forum for the future of 21st century animal husbandry" is being held from 11 to 14 November. Exhibitors are showcasing products related to all aspects of livestock farming, while solutions are being presented to enhance commercial success, and to assist with issues of animal welfare and the environment.

EuroTier said it was also bringing together "international experts from the worlds of industry, agriculture, science and consultancy, whose unique store of knowledge can offer explanation, direction and solutions for overcoming both present and future challenges in agriculture and productive livestock farming".

The show promoted its international nature, with almost half of the exhibitors from outside Germany. The majority of international exhibitors are from the Netherlands (186), France (136), China (116), Italy (94), Denmark (77), Spain (64), the UK (58), Austria (54), Belgium (49) and Turkey (48).

EuroTier said animal health and welfare matters were in the spotlight at this year’s show: "Livestock farmers’ need for information remains as high as ever. Farm and herd managers need the very latest professional thinking to future-proof their operations. This applies to all matters related to livestock breeding, feeding and keeping, to management methods, logistics and, in particular, to questions of animal health and animal welfare. This is what the exhibitors are aiming to provide.

"In addition to this, EuroTier will host numerous round-table discussions and talks by experts to explore the latest knowledge and most up-to-date solutions."

Good visitor numbers are anticipated at the 2014 event, organisers expect a similar number of people through the doors as the 2010 EuroTier, which played host to around 145,000 agriculture professionals.
