Seward has received certification for ISO 14001 adding it confirms the company’s commitment to minimising environmental impact.

The manufacturer of the Stomacher paddle blenders used in sample preparation for microbiological analysis wants to recycle all waste from its business and is working with a private company who operate a ‘Zero Landfill Policy’.

In line with ISO 14001 requirements, Seward’s environmental policy focuses on minimising material and energy wastage, and promoting recyclable and renewable materials in its Stomacher bag manufacturing process.

Since starting manufacturing Stomacher bags in the UK earlier this year, it is recycling 85% of its plastic, paper and cardboard material production waste, contributing to a 40% reduction in general company waste.

Seward also plans to recycle all cans, plastic bottles, batteries and food waste to achieve ‘Zero Landfill’ status.

Dan Crothers, general manager at Seward, said it is a key milestone in operating as an environmentally sensitive company and complying with international environmental legislation.

“Also in line with our strong green credentials, we are keen to talk to customers who have similar environmental policies to us and who are interested in collaborating to reduce the environmental impact of laboratory testing.”
