Rona Ambrose, minister of health, said the Reference Database for Hazard Identification (RDHI), helps firms develop preventive food safety control plans.
Industry can search the tool for food and foodborne hazards in production and processing to help guide the development of their plans.
It replaces the paper-based database prepared in 2008.
The RDHI has no official sanction but will aims to guide Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) or Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
It contains product ingredients and incoming materials, processing steps, plant layout (cross contamination zone), biological hazards, chemical hazards, physical hazards.
