Randox gets USDA backing for Ractopamine test
The firm is the only USDA approved supplier of screening technology for Ractopamine and said it will drive demand from pork customers in the US and linked markets.
The BioChip Array Technology and ELISA products received the USDA backing, an approved screening method for Ractopamine, the beta-agonist, under the agency’s 'Never Fed Beta Agonists' programme.
Joanne McKnight, Randox Food Diagnostics meat and seafood business development manager, said gaining the milestone was vital for the firm.
“Although this is a US benchmark, we know USDA is a reference point for industry standards well beyond American shores, so we expect it to give customers confidence in the quality and reliability of our products on a global basis.
“The US is one of our largest markets and we supply a wide range of drug residue screening products across the meat and seafood, honey and dairy industries, as well as wine-analysis kits.”
