Nestlé has opened a CHF 73m (€59.1m) factory in Russia to distribute Maggi-brand products across Russia and other Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries.

The facility is in Vyazniki in the region of Vladimir, about 300km east of Moscow, and is the company’s 11th factory in Russia. It is set to produce about 30,000 tonnes of Maggi products a year, including seasonings, sauces, instant soups, bouillons and purees.

“Nestlé has confirmed its long-term commitment to Russia and its consumers by continuing to invest in the development of its production capacities, and introducing advanced technologies in its food production,” said Laurent Freixe, Nestlé’s head of zone Europe.

“With this new factory, Nestlé is opening a new chapter for the Maggi business and is setting a new standard for technology in culinary production in Russia.”

Earlier this year, Nestlé said it would invest CHF 29m (€23.5m) to strengthen its supply chain in Russia.
