Galactic biotechnologies has set up an e-shop as it launches Galastar and Galacin to satisfy producers’ demands for more natural food preservation technologies.

Galastar is the brand name for starter cultures consisting of lactic acid bacteria and micrococcaceae micro-organisms which mainly protect food against pathogens, improve colour, texture and enhance flavour.

It can be used in meat applications such as dried sausages, cooked ham or fresh meat to trigger the fermentation process.

The Galacin range is a mix of natural ingredients containing, amongst others, nisin or natamycin.

They are mostly used in cheese, fermented sausages, and other food to prevent Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, fungi, and yeast or mould spoilages.

Good opportunity

Putting Galastar and Galacin on the market is a good opportunity for us to fulfil producers’ demand for more natural food preservation solutions”, said Jean-Christophe Bogaert, sales, marketing and business development director, Galactic.

Our e-shop will focus on a larger audience different to our traditional customers and we want to specifically target research departments within universities and companies.”

After the launch of its rebranded website in April, Galactic decided to create a an e-shop for people interested in ordering the company’s products in smaller quantities.

Online e-shop

The website has a variety of  products for application in the food, feed, personal and health care, and industrial sectors.

Both Galastar and Galacin ranges can naturally improve food preservation by acting on the microbiological aspect of the product.
