Growing demand prompts Tate & Lyle expansion in speciality starches
Tate & Lyle says a growing demand for speciality starches means it will invest in increased capacities at its Netherlands manufacturing facility.

The UK-based food ingredients giant said the investment will capitalise on increasing demand for its ingredients such as its MERIGEL range of pre-gelatinised starches that are used in soups, puddings, sauces and snack products.

“Two key factors are driving the growth of our MERIGE range: firstly product innovation, such as fat reduction or exciting new developments in recipes, and secondly, the need for non-GM ingredients in a number of markets is also a key driver in Europe as well as in some other markets around the world," explained James Blunt, senior vice president for product management at Tate & Lyle Speciality Food Ingredients

The global ingredients supplier said it will increase speciality starch capacity through the expansion of its instant starch production capacity at its flagship manufacturing facility in Koog aan de Zaan, The Netherlands.
