Rapid microbiology has a big part to play in addressing the speed that foodborne diseases spread across the world, according to bioMérieux.

Manufacturers’ needs for rapid microbiology tools is leading to research in the area, Jean-Marc Durano, corporate vice president of bioMérieux Industry, told FoodQualityNews.com at the Global Food Safety Conference 2013 in Barcelona.

The firm’s aim was to be the worldwide partner for brands to allow them to ensure better food for better health, said Durano.

“We can bring expertise in microbiology and also from sample preparation to identification, we can be the company that offers any kind of solutions, so this is what we believe and what we want to develop.”

He added that the firm can provide productivity in labour and material savings due to the their solutions.
