The ministry said the decision, which was made following negotiations between Brazilian and European veterinary authorities, meant Brazil would be able to use the same manufacturing process as its competitors, Uruguay and South Africa.
Brazil has been unable to export beef jerky to the EU since 2008, when European authorities introduced new legislation determining that processed meat imports from Brazil must be cooked to minimum temperatures of 80ºC.
MAPA asked the EU to change the law in 2010 and European authorities have since visited Brazil to tour factories and see the manufacturing process for beef jerky, before finally granting approval earlier this week.
