DuPont launched its heat-sealable Tyvek product at Emballage in Paris and said that the method will allow higher production rates.

At trade show Emballage in Paris, Marie Caillet, sales representative for Protective Packaging at DuPont Tyvek, told FoodProductionDaily.com that the breathable and water resistant product was well represented in the active packaging market.

She added that it makes sure moisture is absorbed and there is no waste of the food.

The innovation is a Tyvek style with thermal sealability properties, allowing higher production rates in sachet or sticker production machines.

Caillet added the European Commission is working on new regulations in the food waste supply chain and Du Pont is already working in this area, including using Tyvek to protect heat sensitive products such as fruit.
