New cleaning systems from Meech International
The company has unveiled its Hyperion 971 bar for removing static cling, delivering fresh ammunition in the war against dust and particle contamination of labelling and packaging, and its IonRinse cleaning system.
The Hyperion 971 improves on similar previous models from Meech because it is more resilient to the build-up of contamination, said business unit director for static control, David Rogers. This, in turn, made it easier to clean.
"A lot of our devices are employed in dusty environments, where airborne contaminants can seriously affect the performance of ionising bars," said Rogers. "We made sure the design of the Hyperion 971 would minimise the effects of contamination to meet the needs of our packaging customers."
Long range ionisation
The Hyperion 971 has shockless transmitters, making it safe for operators to handle. Available in a choice of lengths of up to 4 metres, it provides very effective long-range ionisation for distances of up to 1,000 mm.
The tool is ideal for label presses, rewinds or turret rewinds, said Meech.
The IonRinse is a fan-driven system combining powerful ionisation, a custom-designed airflow distributor and high-quality inner flitration. Delivered at high velocity, filtered ionised air exits the IonRinse head unit via the airflow distributor and enters the container.
The control of the airflow coupled with the neutralisation of static charges releases contamination from the container inner walls. It is then caught by the vacuum airflow and extracted to an inline filtration system, capable of capturing 99% of particles at 0.3 microns.
Cuts down on costs
The cleaning device cuts down on water, chemical and compressed air costs, said Meech.
"These industries consume significant volumes of water in their applications and while ionised compressed air systems do provide a more environmentally friendly solution, they still consume expensive energy and do not eliminate the possibiity of re-contamination," said Adam Battrick, business unit director for cleaning systems at Meech.
"With the IonRinse our goal is to reduce costs and improve cleaning quality."
