Volac targets female bar-buying market

UK whey supplier Volac is making a push at the nutrition bar market with its whey offerings – especially that segment of the market concerned with weight management.

Mintel puts the global bar market at about €722m with 75% of purchases being made by women, a market Volac says offers opportunities for greater satiety and health promotion via ingredients like whey.

“By adding whey protein into a bar, a balance of nutrients delivers an ‘all in one’ nutritional solution, whether as breakfast ‘on the go’ or an ideal guilt free snack,”​ said Suzane Leser, Volac nutrition manager for Lifestyle Ingredients.

“This way, people can balance the intake of high quality proteins with carbohydrate, and potentially less sugar.”

Volac will be showcasing Volactive ProCrisp at the Food Ingredients Europe trade show in Paris this month.
