Combined weighing and metal detection machine reduces errors and space, Mettler-Toledo
Launched globally, the XC CC CombiChecker is an addition to Mettler-Toledo Garvens’ CombiChecker range, a spokesperson for the company told FoodProductionDaily.com.
“Manufacturers are looking for machines that positively contribute to their bottom line,” said Dirk Bettels, product manager, Mettler-Toledo Garvens.
“The CombiChecker does so in two ways: firstly, as a combination of two machines it saves space. Secondly, it allows manufacturers to supply high-quality products that are not contaminated, which helps to build a good reputation,” he said.
Reduced errors
Benefits of combining the functionalities of checkweighing and metal detection include reduced operating errors and overall line productivity, the company claims.
Training requirements are minimal as operators only need to learn about one system, it said.
In addition, the interface, translated into 28 languages facilitates fast navigation, said Mettler-Toledo.
The company also claims its “easily understandable” icons reduce operating errors, further increasing production line efficiency.
Mettler-Toledo said the software it supplies allows the manufacturer to save 100 product settings, allowing the operator to “quickly” change the production process and reduce downtime.
Weighting system
To verify for required weight levels, two rejection pushers separate and sort any under- or overweight and metal-contaminated products.
Mettler-Toledo said the system features “advanced load cell technology” which can ensure precise weighing.
The system is certified a Class 3 weighing instrument according to the International Organisation of Legal Metrology (OIML).
“The metal detector system included in the CombiChecker, has advanced digital signal processing and single-frequency technology to enable the accurate detection of all metals including ferrous, non-ferrous and non-magnetic stainless steel,” said the firm.
Flexibility
The firm claims the new CombiChecker is also highly flexible, offering a modular design with scalable options that can handle a range of product sizes, shapes and weights.
The system can be equipped with varying conveyor belt lengths, and has maximum weighing capacities up to either three or six kgs, said the firm.
The supplier said the system is complete for installation on arrival and features a conveyor body and belt that can be “quickly and easily dismantled and reassembled for rapid cleaning”.
