Applicants sought for second Biodiversity in Food Awards

The Union for Ethical BioTrade (UEBT) is calling for entries to its biodiversity awards which will be presented at Food Ingredients Europe later on this year.

The Biodiversity in Food Awards, which are now in their second year, include one award for innovation and another for leadership.

Both categories aim to reward companies furthering the goals of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD). These include promotion of biodiversity, sustainable biodiversity policies and the fair sharing of benefits throughout the supply chain.

“With the awards we want to recognise leaders and innovators in the field, but also highlight the important role businesses can play in realizing the biodiversity objectives included in the CBD,” said UEBT executive director Rik Kutsch Lojenga.

Companies interested in applying for the awards are invited to send in applications before 26 August 2011. The winners will be announced at the FI Europe trade show in Paris, 29 November – 1 December.
