Hans-Christian Ambjerg, president of DSM Food Specialties, goes head to head with FoodNavigator.com on commodity prices, emerging markets and acquisition strategy.

In the interview, Ambjerg outlines his view on the big industry stories of the day and explains what influence they are having on the DSM food business.

Emerging markets and cost reducing innovations were identified as two important areas to focus on going forward.

Ambjerg said he looked forward to using the DSM “innovation muscle” a lot more to grow the business.

In the context of the recent DuPont acquisition of Danisco, the business leader said DSM has a strong technology base to pursue organic growth, adding that the company is not going on a buying spree in the food specialties area.

Safety with Chinese Enzymes?

Posted by George Harkins,

A perfect example of a Company not listening (or caring?)about what their customers are concerned about, i.e. ingredients or food processing aides coming from China? Cheaper? Maybe, but I would be very concerned if I was a customer about the safety guarentees of such products, based on the Chinese past record.
