Unilever has completed the sale of its edible oil business in Cote D’Ivoire and acquired Cosmivoire’s soap business instead – a deal that allows it to focus on its core West African businesses.

The Anglo-Dutch consumer goods giant has sold its edible oils business and plantation interests in the country to SIFCA and a 50:50 joint venture between oil palm processor Wilmar International and supply chain manager Olam.

The Cosmivoire business was a subsidiary of SIFCA.

Unilever’s focus in Cote d’Ivoire is on skin cleansing and laundry.
