By fitting an agitator to its range of volumetric depositors, food
processors can now mixdelicate products without having to buy a new
machine, says UK-based Turbo Systems.

An agitator can be used for processes involving the deposit of semi-solid or particulated products such as soups, sauces and crepemixtures, Turbo Systems says. It can be retro-fitted to existing Turbo depositors, giving processorsmore versatility in designing and making changeovers to new products.

"It is fully controllable and especially suitable for fragile products such as fruits andmeats," the company stated in announcing the addition. "The agitator simply stirs the mix and keeps the particulates in suspension, ultimately giving a full and accurate deposit without causing any damage to delicate ingredients."

Turbo Systems has designed the system so the agitator is located inside the hopper. This solves acommon problem of particulates being left behind in the hopper after liquid is strained and deposited.

The agitators can be switched on and off as required, allowing more accurate deposits, claimsTurbo Systems. Turbo Systems manufactures agitators for all sizes of hoppers.

Currently it makes three types of agitators -- reciprocating paddle, horizontal rotary paddle and vertical propeller. Allare available in vertical and horizontal configurations and can be air or electrically driven.

Turbo's volumetric depositor is a fully-automated system that completely eliminates the need forworker intervention and application. The size of the hopper and the nozzle type are all variable as are the size of the cylinder and piston and the length of stroke available.

"In an ever changing market our latest depositor, the D150, repeatedly comes out on top,"claimed Turbo's technical area sales manager, Mark MacBean. "One of the reasons for this is that it can easily be adapted to suit new product trends. Fitting an agitator to the hopper of existing Turbo machines is just one example of how we can give our customers the versatility they need to compete in today's market."
