End of the line improvements

End-of-line equipment specialist Wrapid Packaging Systems is
launching the Compacta Trend, an updated budget automatic packaging
machine that the company claims offers substantial cost savings
over traditional chamber and semi-automatic solutions.

The machine can operate at speeds of up to 20 packs per minute, depending on the actual product, to provide a secure packaging seal. This, says the company, makes it ideal for applications where security and tamper evidence are also of paramount importance.

The Compacta Trend features side sealing, and, according to Wrapid, can wrap items up to almost any size in length. Typical applications include 7 metre-long profiles such as pipes and guttering. This level of versatility makes it suitable for packing a wide range of awkward shaped items including egg boxes and related items.

"The Trend incorporates many of the features of the bigger Compacta and is an ideal entry level automatic wrapping machine," said Wrapid managing director Peter Birkinhead.

At the core of the Trend's flexibility is its ability to randomly pack a wide range of different sized products, with the minimum of adjustment. Size changeovers are perfected using five individually adjustable pre-set controls, accessible via a plain text control unit.

An optional trimming unit allows bags to cut to the precise size andkeeps any waste to a minimum.

The Compacta Trend also incorporates a Siemens PLCS5 control system, which can be synchronised with other end-of-line packing machines as appropriate. Along with maintenance-free pneumatic cylinders and a choice of optional BVM shrink tunnels, this gives customers a great deal of versatility.

UK-based Wrapid employs over 200 personnel and offers solutions forvirtually all display packaging needs and food applications includingmachinery, packaging and label films, polypropylene bags and Polyester sealant films for the growing ready meals market.
