Cognis to market Natural CLA

Cognis, the nutritional ingredients company, has signed an
agreement with Norwegian group Natural giving it the exclusive
licence to market and manufacturer Natural's Tonalin CLA product.

Cognis, a speciality chemicals and nutritional ingredients company, and Natural ASA, a Norwegian research and development company, announced today that they have signed an agreement which gives Cognis an exclusive licence to market and manufacture Natural's Tonalin brand of Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA).

Under the agreement, effective from September 1 2002, Cognis will hold the rights to the worldwide marketing and manufacturing of Natural's products and technology for dietary supplements, food ingredients, pharmaceuticals and cosmetics.

Tonalin CLA has a high CLA content formulation and is primarily marketed today as a dietary supplement with benefits for lean body mass management.

"Cognis is committed to building the Tonalin mark's excellent brand equity on a worldwide basis in the dietary supplement, food ingredient, pharmaceutical and cosmetic markets,"​ said Paul Allen, Group Vice President, Cognis Nutrition and Health. "We are dedicated to funding new research and clinical studies to further develop the science for Tonalin CLA in the key markets,"​ added Allen.

According to a statement this week Cognis is planning an advertising and public relations campaign to strengthen the Tonalin brand name's visibility among consumers.
