The Institute of Packaging has launched its web-based 'Unlimited Packaging Solutions', allowing its members to help one another solve packaging queries.

UPS provides instant web-based access to the knowledge and experience of up to 3000 packaging professional worldwide, according to Lynda Travis, IT manager at the Institute.

"This exciting initiative enable individuals to call upon other members to help solve their packaging queries," she added. "It is one of our most powerful member-help-member resources available at the present time. Thousands of queries have been sent using UPS and hundreds of people have gained valuable information and critically every question posted has received at least one response. It couldn't be easier to use: members simply type in a question which is emailed to all other members and replies are sent back via email," concluded Travis.

Unlimited Packaging Solutions is available to all Institute members and is free of charge.

Campbell Laird, group director of the Tayburn Group, claims to have benefited through the use of UPS: "I use UPS quite frequently, mainly to help our clients to solve problems quickly and efficiently, many of whom are involved in packaging. UPS has enabled my colleagues and I to save a lot of time, and avoids the need for us to trail through numerous catalogues, books and so on for vital information.

"The answers that I've received using UPS are very informative and we have delivered successfully based upon them."

The Institute of Packaging is a UK-based organisation with some 3000 members. It is geared towards professionals in the packaging industry, providing resources, contacts and a host of programmes geared towards promoting the industry.
