A £3 million (€4.6m) pilot research facility for new food product development will be managed by Food Knowledge & Know-how (FKK) of Reading Scientific Services following a new agreement with the University of Reading.

The Process Research Centre, or PRC, is a fully equipped pilot plant facility and includes a full range of mixers, ovens, retorts, dryers, evaporators, HTST pasteurisation and UHT plants, as well as analytical equipment for testing the final product.

To mark the new approach to managing the PRC, FKK is hosting a free open day aimed at showing food manufacturing companies what the facility has to offer both in terms of equipment and service. The Open Day will be held on 29 January 2003 and will include demonstrations of equipment and the production of dairy products and baked goods.
