Biodar, a subsidiary of lycopene ingredient company LycoRed, announced this week that it has introduced a new vegetarian beadleting technology.

Since Biodar's acquisition by LycoRed two years ago, Biodar has concentrated its main R&D efforts into developing this new technology for beadlets formation that can replace commercially available gelatin beadlets containing the same active ingredients.

Biodar has combined its proprietary micro encapsulation knowledge with the newly developed beadleting technology to produce free flowing beadlets with good stability and shelf life of the active ingredients.

The beadlets are designed for use in the production of single and multi-ingredient, multi-vitamin, antioxidant tablets, or two-piece hard shell capsules. They can also be used in processed food fortification and functional foods. Biodar claims that they have good flow properties for easy handling, narrow particle size distribution and strong resistance to tableting pressure. They can also be labelled as non-GMO and Kosher.
