In the US, Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory has won the National Paperbox Association's Gold Award for its new line of gift packaging designed for franchised Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory retail stores.

Awarded at the National Paperbox Association's (NPA) 52nd Annual Packaging Competition, the company received Gold Awards for "General Superiority in End-use Confections" as well as "Best Surface Design and Execution" and "Best Family of Packages". The Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory gift packaging was chosen from over 300 entries and represents the highest honours awarded by the NPA.

The National Paperbox Association, which was founded in 1918, is a national organisation of 100 independent manufacturers of rigid and folding boxes in the USA, Canada, and Europe.

"We are pleased to receive this honour from the NPA," said Ed Dudley, senior vice president, sales and marketing, at Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory. "Our new gift packaging is the result of coordinated efforts by our VP/Creative Services, Jay Haws, and our partners in this process, Hornall Anderson Design Works, Williams Creative Marketing, and Utah Paper Box. The new packaging is a great complement to our brand and all that it represents."

As part of its repositioning, Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory redesigned its line of gift packaging and its core retail concept to capitalise on strong brand associations for fresh confections, caramel apples, fudge, and dipped fruits made on-site.

Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory, headquartered in Durango, Colorado, is an international franchiser of gourmet chocolate and confection stores and a manufacturer of an extensive line of premium chocolates and other confectionery products.
