UK food ingredient specialist J.O. Sims this week announced record growth in the sales of its fruit ingredients, with an increase of over 50 per cent forecast by the end of 2002.

"The growth in fruit ingredient sales in the past two years has been extraordinary", said Christopher Sims, managing director. "Consumers know that fruit is healthy and good to eat. Manufacturers have responded with a wide array of tasty and innovative products - from breakfast cereals and snack bars to yoghurts, cheeses and biscuits," he continued.

A significant percentage of J.O. Sims ingredient sales are attributed to a considerable rise in demand for Ocean Spray's flavoured fruit pieces (FFP) for whom the UK ingredient company is a distributor.

J.O. Sims said this week that it supplies processed and industrial fruit ingredients to customers throughout the UK. Customers include leading supermarkets and fresh produce markets, as well as food and ingredient manufacturers. "Whatever the requirement - fresh, frozen and dried fruit; fruit juice concentrates; fruit powders, purées, soft and frozen fruits and distillates, J.O. Sims can provide the technical and marketing advice that food manufacturers need to get the best from fruit ingredients," boasted Lee Doleman, business development manager.

Fresh produce supplied by the company includes apples, apricots, avocado, cherries, cranberries, dates, grapefruit and ginger.
