Sensient smells the coffee and buys German flavours

US company Sensient Technologies Corporation announced this week
that it has acquired the flavours and essential oil operations of
German company C. Melchers. The businesses are headquartered in
Bremen, Germany and reported revenues of approximately $14 million
(€15.98m) last year. Terms of the cash purchase were not disclosed.

"This is the fourth strategic transaction that we have completed since November,"​ said Kenneth P. Manning, chairman and CEO of Sensient Technologies. "The integration of Melchers with our existing German flavour operations improves our manufacturing and technical capabilities within Germany. The transaction also adds important new customers and broadens our flavour product line in Europe, China and the United States. Our acquisition programme continues to open new opportunities around the world."

Melchers is a supplier of flavours for coffees and teas, as well as a broad range of essential oils, aroma chemicals and other formulations for flavour, cosmetic and fragrance applications worldwide. The company has facilities in Germany, the United States, and China.

Sensient Technologies Corporation, headquartered in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, is a supplier of colours, flavours and fragrances.
