Markbeech Products, a UK food ingredient importer, processor and distributor, has sold its flavours business to Flavex International, a UK company based in Hereford.

Following a strategic review of the business Markbeech has decided to concentrate on six core businesses: Coconut, Ground Nuts, Tree Nuts, Dried Fruits, Baking Powders, Dried Egg Products and Canned Pineapple.

In order to support its market position, the company announced that it has commenced a 3 year £5m investment program to increase capacity and utilise recent technical advances in processing methods.

Graham Davenport, Managing Director at Markbeech said, " We have had record growth throughout our business and the time has come to rationalise to ensure we focus on key product areas. Flavours has made an excellent contribution in the past but we no longer see it as part of our future."

Flavex International, a manufacturer of flavours and botanical extracts and related products, will take on the whole Markbeech Flavours business and integrate it into their own operation.
