Cerestar opens starch plant in China

European-based starch producer Cerestar announced recently that, together with Chinese company, the Jiliang Group, it is to open a maize processing plant in Northern China.

European starch producer Cerestar announced recently that, together with Chinese company, the Jiliang Group, it is to open a maize processing plant in Northern China.

The new plant, located at Songyuan City, Jilin province, will produce a widevariety of starches and starch derivatives for use in a number of industrysectors including food and beverage, paper and corrugating, pharmaceuticaland chemical and animal feed.

Jiliang Maize Industry (CJMI) is a Chinese-foreign equity joint venture formed in 1996 by global manufacturer of starch and starch derivatives, Cerestar (51 per cent), and the Jiliang Group (49 per cent), with the approval of the Chinese Centralgovernment.
