The fourth annual conference on the hotly discussed topic of food irradiation, "Food Irradiation 2002: The Global Summit for Food Safety," is to take place from March 20 to 22, 2002, at the Sheraton Park Central Hotel in Dallas. Organised by Intertech conference company the meeting is directed at food-safety managers and executives, food processors, regulatory officials, irradiation service providers, and import-export firms. The conference co-chairs are Harry Mussmann, chairman of the Food Safeguards Council, and Joseph Borsa, Food Irradiation Specialist with MDS Nordion. The conference will focus on the case for irradiation in the international food marketplace and will explore new ways to bring this technology to the marketplace and to the consumer.
