Food processing company Parmalat Canada is to close a factory in
Kingston, Ont., that packages juices and milk, the company
announced this week. Juice production will end on November 30, with
the work transferred to an unspecified source, and plastic milk
packaging will end in February.

Juice production will end on November 30, with the work transferred to an unspecified source, and plastic milk packaging will end in February. "The decision to close the Kingston facility is based on a manufacturing strategy to improve Parmalat operations' efficiencies and reduce costs,"​the company said in a release. "Most importantly, we want to acknowledge the outstanding work done by the Kingston employees who have shown tremendous loyalty to the company over the years,"​ said Brian Hind, vice-president of fluid operations. "It's because of this employee dedication that the Kingston community has been so well-served by Parmalat."​ Parmalat Canada has annual sales in excess of $2 billion (2.12 billion euros). Parmalat Canada is a subsidiary of Italian company Parmalat Finanziaria that operates in 31 countries.
