Danish food, sugar and packaging group Danisco said on Thursday it acquired U.S. Florida Flavors, a leading manufacturer of fruit flavours for the juice industry, for an undisclosed sum, Reuters reports. Florida Flavors, based in Lakeland, Florida, posted net sales of $15 million in 2000 and the acquisition was seen by Danisco​as enhancing 2003-04 earnings. Without discolosing the financial details Danisco said the purchase price for Florida Flavors corresponded to approximately nine times the U.S. company`s EBITDA for calendar year 2000. The world market for flavours is estimated at around $5.0 billion, Danisco said in a statement. Danisco`s sales of flavours and related aroma ingredients exceed one billion Danish crowns ($120 million) annually. Source: Reuters Limited 2001.
