The meat and poultry industry have yet another new internet marketplace online.Provision X opened for business on Thursday with five suppliers including Cargill's red meat business, Tyson Foods Inc., and Farmbrands America. In a statement Provision X claimed that "the marketplace will allow more time for interpersonal interaction between suppliers and buyers offline, but buyers also will continue to have one-on-one relationships with their existing supplier online. The online marketplace will maintain the private relationship between individual buyers and sellers." Provision Xis the first online marketplace of Commerce Ventures LLC and promotes itself as operating an open, full-service, neutral web-based exchange focused on buyers and sellers of beef, pork and poultry products and related services.
