Food giant Nestle announced thiw week the fortification of one of its leading brands. Ready-to-drink (RTD) Nesquik flavoured milk varieties are now fortified with extra calcium. Nestle claims that the new RTD product delivers 40 per cent of the recommended Daily Value as opposed to the 25 per cent that it previously contained. The drink is available in chocolate, fat free chocolate, strawberry and banana flavours. The product, launched this month, is targeted at active teenagers and young adults (12-24). "We see this new calcium-fortified product as a natural extension for our ready-to-drink flavored milk given the active and often adventurous lifestyles ofour consumers," Reid Leslie, Nesquik marketing manager, Nestle USA Beverage Division commented. In January this year the Nesquik powder was fortified with 7 essential minerals and vitamins.
