The Australia New Zealand Food Authority (ANZFA​), under paragraph 7(c) of the Australia New Zealand Food Authority Act 1991 (the ANZFA Act), developedand approved a recent ingredients guideline to assist in the interpretation and application of Standard 1.2.4, Labelling of Ingredients, of the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code. ANZFA developed this guideline in consultation with representatives from the Australian and New Zealand governments and from Australian and New Zealandfood industries. If in any doubt, ANZFA recommends that the user seek independent legal advice. All food manufacturers and retailers must be aware of the broader legal environment of which the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code is a part. Thisincludes the Imported Food Control Act 1992 for all food imported into Australia, Australian State and Territory and New Zealand food legislation as well as theCommonwealth of Australia Trade Practices Act 1974, the Fair Trading Act in each Australian State and Territory and the New Zealand Fair Trading Act1986.
