Nestlé SA, the world's largest food company, announced that the full-year profit rose by 22 %, with net income rising to 5.76 billion Swiss francs ($3.4 billion). Chief Executive Peter Brabeck stated that the company's profit growth in recent years was achieved by closing factories, selling units and focusing on top-selling brands, along with a series of recent acquisitions, and higher demand for products such as Nescafé coffee in emerging markets. Fritz Gerber, vice chairman of Nestlé, and Reto Domeniconi will leave the board and be replaced by Kudelski SA Chairman André Kudelski and Nobuyuki Idei, the company said in a statement faxed to journalists.
