The UK’s leading independently-owned dairy group has acquired food decorations producer Nimbus Foods from Valeo Foods for an undisclosed amount.

Meadow Foods – which predominantly supplies dairy-based ingredients – said the move will expand its portfolio into new product areas.

According to Mark Chantler, CEO of Meadow Foods, the two companies also share many synergies, including a high customer crossover, product knowledge and manufacturing expertise.

Nimbus Foods is a leading supplier of inclusions, decorations and toppings throughout Europe across categories like bakery, snacks, cereals, confectionery, desserts and ice cream.

It operates from a BRC AA Grade factory in Dolgellau, Wales.

“Nimbus fits perfectly with our growth strategy of pushing further into the value added ingredients space,” said Chantler.

“This acquisition will … strengthen our position as a leading supplier of confectionery ingredients [as] we continue to grow with the demands of our customers who are looking for strategic partners that can offer unique ingredients solutions.”

The announcement follows an investment in Meadow Foods by UK private equity firm Exponent in August 2018.
