Coca-Cola Life - a mid-calorie coke sweetened with a blend of sugar and stevia - will be launched in the UK later this year following its successful pilot in Argentina and Chile.

Coca-Cola Great Britain (CCGB) announced earlier today that Coca-Cola Life, which as a result of its stevia content contains 36% less calories and 37% less sugar than regular cola, will hit shelves in the UK in September 2014.

As reported by BeverageDaily.com, Coca-Cola launched its Life variation in Argentina and Chile in 2013.

Its upcoming launch in the UK will mark its arrival in Europe.

Coca-Cola Life, which will be available in 330ml cans and 500ml and 1.75l PET bottles, is the first new Coca-Cola product to be launched in the UK since 2006 when Coca-Cola Zero arrived on the market.

“We are pleased to add Coca-Cola Life to the Coca-Cola portfolio in the UK," said James Quincy, president, Coca-Cola Europe.

"It complements our existing brands and is well positioned to meet changing lifestyle trends, providing people with a great-tasting, lower-calorie cola sweetened from natural sources.”

Like the majority of Coca-Cola products sold in the UK, Coca-Cola Life will be manufactured domestically at plants in East Kilbride, Edmonton, Wakefield and Sidcup.
