World food prices rose slightly last month driven by higher vegetable oils prices, and palm oil in particular, according to the UN's Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO).
The Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) has said global prices of key food staples rose for the third consecutive month in April, after four years of previous decline.
Unfavourable weather conditions in the Asia, Brazil and the US, coupled with increased political tension in the Black Sea region have led to a steep increase in world food prices, says the FAO.
Global food prices have jumped nearly 2% marking the first increase since July 2011, claims the price index from the UN’s Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).
