The latest Fairtrade products to hit the UK market are organic
bananas, distributed by the British arm of Dutch company AgroFair.
The fruit is already being sold in one of the leading organic
supermarkets there.
The UK Soil Association and the Fairtrade Foundation on Friday
launcheda new pilot project to combine organic and Fairtrade
certification whichwill apply to British and imported foods.
After Fairtrade bananas, mangoes and chocolate, the UK's Co-op
retail chain has now introduced the world's first Fairtrade
pineapples, offering a fair deal and better working conditions for
growers in Costa Rica.
