The purpose of a package is to preserve food. In a multilayer structure, the correct barrier material is selected first in order to achieve the desired shelf life. All the layers around this barrier layer are then chosen to fulfill various functions and contribute to the packaging integrity. Package integrity is critical to allow the barrier to be 100% effective. Using a good sealant material as well as a strong adhesive resin are typical ways to increase the integrity of a package. In this presentation, we will show how Surlyn(R) combined with Bynel(R) and other materials from DuPont helps reduce the leaker rate of a package and ultimately protect brands!
