Meal replacement company Huel has expanded into protein powders.
The ‘world’s first’ nutritionally complete vegan protein powder is made from a bland of three plant protein sources: hemp, faba, and pea. According to the brand, the powder contains ‘adequate amounts’ of all essential amino acids.
Each 105kcal serve contains 20g of protein, 9g of EEAs, and 5g branch amino acids (BCAAs). It also contains all 26 essential vitamins and minerals, as well as being a source of fibre, carbohydrates and fats.
The powder – which is ‘perfect for snacking’ – is available in six flavours: Chocolate Fudge Brownie, Strawberries & Cream, Banana Milkshake, Vanilla Fudge, Salted Caramel, and Unflavoured & Unsweetened.
“Launching a protein powder range that also has the added benefits of complete nutrition with all 26 essential vitamins and minerals is a huge milestone for Huel,” said co-founder James Collier.
“As people have more access to alternatives to animal-based products, they’re beginning to realise that plant protein needn’t be inferior: it’s about the combination of high-quality ingredients within the product, and Huel Complete Protein is created with this in mind.
“For us, plant-based is the new way to do protein and thanks to the balance of plant-based proteins used in Huel Complete Protein, you don’t need to compromise on taste. Huel Complete Protein is a delicious snack between meals – try this instead of grazing on treats.”

UK kefir brand Biotiful is expanding into coffee. The ‘UK first’ sees British cultured milk kefir mixed with cold-brewed Arabica coffee to create a ‘barista style’ beverage.
The new line contains two SKUs: Mocha and Latte (RRP £1.60 per 250ml bottle).
“We are absolutely delighted to be bringing our expertise to the coffee category as we’re looking to grow penetration beyond our current consumer base. Our new ready-to-drink Kefir coffee gives us a significant opportunity to talk to a more millennial audience by offering a luxury RTD product that contains a ‘natural uplift’ alongside all the health benefits of kefir,” said founder Natasha Bowes.
“Gut health is now one of the biggest health trends in the UK and the coffee category continues to explode. We know consumers are looking for beverage with a clean and natural ingredient list, and concerns around the downside of high caffeine and other energising ingredients are driving more people towards healthier and balanced products that achieve the same results.”
Kefir Coffee is available in Sainsbury’s and Ocado.

Energy drink challenger brand TENZING is adding a new flavour to its range: a tropical pineapple and passionfruit blend.
The offering contains natural branded chain amino acids from corn, alongside caffeine, vitamin C, and electrolytes. It is free from artificial ingredients.
“Within the world of energy drinks, we are proud to be the odd one out. Why? Because our drinks actually contain the ingredients they say on the tin. When traditional energy brans say they have coconut, berries, pineapple and orange in them, there’s usually not a trace of these ingredients to be found. Instead a mix of artificial flavourings, colourings, sweeteners and stabilisers,” said TENZING founder Huib van Bockel.
“Our new Tropical blend is a mix of pineapple and passionfruit juices with our powerful ingredients like green coffee, acerola cherries and BVAA from corn, not only because all our blends are purely from plants but also because it tastes a lot better!”
